WI vs IND 2023: West Indies announces Squad for Test Series against India | India Tour of West Indies 2023: The West Indies Cricket Board has announced the new squad for two matches Test series against India, which will be played in Dominica and Trinidad.
West Indies has added some fresh faces to their squad first in the test series against India. West Indies Chief Selector Desmond Haynes thought that the youngsters were the future, and if they performed well in the upcoming series, they would get more chance.
India and West Indies start their ICC World Test Championship 203-25 Cycle with a two-match test series in West Indies. Both the teams have announced their squad for the Test, and they have included youngsters in the squad as well.
The West Indies have been struggling in international cricket for the last few years, and they will be looking to bounce back in this series against India as they lost the recent series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It will be tough for the them to beat India, which is currently ranked number one in the world.
Desmond Haynes on the West Indies squad for the Test series:
“We were very impressed with the performance of McKenzie and Athanaze on the recent ‘A’ Team tour of Bangladesh,” Haynes said.
“These are two youngsters who have done well, played cricket with great maturity, and We believe they deserve an opportunity to play for the national team.”
“Gudakesh Motie is injured, and he is doing his rehabilitation, and hence there is an opportunity for Warrican and Cornwall in the spin bowling department.”
The squad had a combination of experienced and young players like Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Kemar Roach, and Jason Holder are the key players of the men’s team. Some new faces are in the squad, like Brandon King, Joshua Da Silva, and Gudakesh Motie.
The first Test will be played at Windsor Park in Dominica from July 12-16, whereas the second Test match will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad from July 20-24.
