WI vs IND 2023: 1st Test Playing 11, Rohit Confirms Yashasvi Jaiswal will debut, Shubman Gill will play at No.3: Skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal will debut, and he will be his new opening partner against West Indies in the first Test match, played on July 12 in Dominica.
Team India Skipper Rohit Sharma clarifies. There will be three pacers and two spinners for the first test match of the series at Windsor Park.
This series will be part of the New ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, and the Indian Team is trying new pairs and combinations in the team for the future.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has played wonderfully in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and Domestic cricket. He got the opportunity to show his capabilities for the Indian Team in international Cricket.
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the opening pair for the first test, whereas Shubman Gill will be playing at No.3; this was done to fill the Chateswar Pujara spot in the team.
India has Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel as the spin options in the team, but the chances of Ashwin and Radeja are to play the first match as they are the first preferred choice of any captain.

Rohit Sharma said, “I think we want to try something and hopefully this will give positive results for the team. We have been missing a left-hander for many years. So now, We have a left-hander, let’s hope he performs well for the team and can make that spot his own.”
Rohit told reporters, “We have played the last test match at this ground in 2017 and spinners took a lot of wickets. Have been training here for a few days, we saw the pitches will have some bounce as well so we have picked the combination.”
