Indian young sensation Nitish Kumar Reddy, who made his Test debut in Perth against Australia, achieved a significant milestone by scoring his maiden Test century at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). His brilliant innings showcased his talent and resilience, marking the beginning of a promising career in international cricket.

During the fourth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, Indian youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy helped India to avoid the follow-on and played a fantastic knock. He, along with all-rounder Washington Sundar, made a partnership of 127 runs off 285 balls, completely dominating the opposition.

In his maiden overseas Test tour, Nitish Kumar Reddy has showcased remarkable consistency and skill, amassing an impressive 284* runs from 4 matches. This outstanding performance not only highlights his potential but also makes him the highest scorer for the Indian side on this tour, solidifying his position as a key player for the team’s future.

The emerging prodigy is batting brilliantly on 105* from 176 balls, showcasing his class and temperament. His innings included 10 elegant fours and a towering six, providing stability to the team’s innings and keeping their hopes alive for a strong finish.

Apart from him, batter Yashasvi Jaiswal (82 runs off 118 balls) and all-rounder Washington Sundar (50 runs off 162 balls) were the only other players to breach the 50-run mark. Their contributions, though valuable, were overshadowed by the prodigy’s exceptional innings as the Indian batting lineup struggled to build significant partnerships against a disciplined bowling attack.

With this knock, Nitish Kumar Reddy has cemented his reputation as a dependable batsman, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure in challenging conditions. His innings not only strengthened India’s position in the match but also highlighted his potential to be a cornerstone of the team in the years to come.

India is currently batting at 358/9, trailing by 116 runs in their first inning. The team will be hoping for the last-wicket pair to chip in with some valuable runs and narrow the deficit, keeping their chances alive in this closely contested match.
