VVS Laxman can be appointed as the coach of the India team in the Asia Cup 2022 in place of Rahul Dravid: Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19, making it difficult for him to stay in the UAE during the Asia Cup. Confirming the news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a press release: “VVS Laxman can be appointed as the head coach of the team for the Asia Cup 2022 in place of Rahul Dravid.

JAY SHAH, Honorary Secretary of BCCI wrote that “Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team’s departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022.
Mr. Dravid is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team and has mild symptoms. He will join the team once he returns with a negative COVID-19 report. The rest of the team will assemble in UAE on 23rd August 2022.”
In the Upcoming Asia Cup tournament, the first match will be played between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on 27th August 2022.
