The final list of the players along with their base price for the TATA IPL 2022 Mega Auction has been announced. Several foreign players have registered in the 2 Crore Base Price category and many others have registered in the 1.5 Crore category. With two new teams coming in and about 50 spots added, more players will be sold. So, who are the top players in the second-highest base price category? Who are the players who will come in at 1.5 Crore which is a decent price and skyrocket up to 7 or 8 Crores? Here is a look:
Shimron Hetmyer:
Shimron had the back of the Delhi Capitals team in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Hetmyer is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball. He can bat at any position and offers that flexibility. Also, Shimron has been playing freelance cricket all over the globe and has a truckload of experience. He is a left-hander and can be used to disrupt the bowling of the opposition. He has a strike rate of 135+ and averages 35.
Washington Sundar is one of the top 5 players:
Washington Sundar wouldn’t have been on the list if not for the West Indies Tour of India 2022. He is one of the top 5 players in the 1.5 Crore Base price bracket. He is a multi-faceted player. A gun fielder and a glorious left-handed batter, Washi can bowl 3 overs in the powerplay. RCB had entrusted him with the job of bowling with Chahal in the powerplay. One cannot easily forget his masterclass with the bat at the Gabba. His “no look” six to Nathan Lyon was a treat to watch. He has an unreal economy of 7 in the powerplay overs!
Nicholas Pooran:
Nicholas Pooran, the vice-captain of the Caribbean Kings, is a big name in the list of top 5 players. Pooran can attack the spinners at will. He can form an exceptional number 5 or number 4. The two new teams can have a bidding war to select Pooran. He has an elite strike rate of 155 and an average of 30. He had a very poor IPL 2021 but that doesn’t define the class of this player.
Dawid Malan is one of the top 5 players:
Dawid Malan is coming from a very successful Ashes series on a personal note. The ICC has rated this left-hander very highly. He can make a move on in the middle overs which is generally the dry phase of the shortest format. He is a good player of spin as well. Malan is a good fielder which makes him a complete package. His strike rate is 125 to 130 but the average reaches up to 40 at the international level.
Jonny Bairstow:
Jonny Bairstow is a proven commodity. He has been in the cricketing circuit since 2011. Bairstow brings along with him a lot of experience and he has been part of the English leadership group as well. Jonny has the technique to play the short balls and also to attack the pacers. He is a player who smashes the opposition from ball 1! Mumbai Indians are likely to target him! To know more visit the official website of the IPL.
