ENG vs IND 2021: 3rd Blow for India ahead of the England test series, Washington Sundar ruled out

ENG vs IND 2021: 3rd Blow for India ahead of the England test series, Washington Sundar ruled out.

ENG vs IND 2021: The list of Indian players getting ruled out before India vs England five matches test series grows as all-rounder Washington Sundar gets his name listed. The all-rounder was on Thursday excluded from the squad touring England due to a finger injury.

Earlier, opening batsman Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan were ruled out for the entire tour due to their respective injuries. The former triggered his shin stress injury and the latter fractured his left finger during the ongoing India vs County Select XI three days warm-up match.

Both Avesh Khan and Washinton Sundar were part of the warm-up match for County Select XI.

India had to send two replacements in Avesh Khan and Washinton Sundar to the county team as ECB showed its inability to field a complete 11 players in the warm-up match as a couple of cricketers came in contact with a covid infected individual.

Until now no replacements have been called by the Indian team in England.

The Indian cricket board has already rejected the request of Indian management in England to send a backup opener after Shubman Gill was injured and ruled out.

The board categorically said “no” for any replacements as they believe that if the team required the services of Prithvi Shaw or Devdutt Padikkal then they would have picked them when the squad was announced.

It will now be interesting whether BCCI sends any replacements as the 24-men Indian squad is already down to 21-men.

Both Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar showed their brilliance in the past and owing to which the aforementioned were named in the squad.

Washington Sundar showed his blooming career with a sensational match-saving knock in the third Test match against Australia while Avesh Khan was exceptional in the recent IPL 2021.

However, amid all these worrying news, what comes as a delight for India is the comeback of Rishabh Pant in the squad.

Pant was earlier returned covid positive, post which the cricketer was sent into isolation in his acquaintance’s house.

He is back with the team in Durham and looking good to play all the five test matches against England.
