The TATA IPL 2023 is going to see the comeback of the men in yellow. The team is expected to do well for one last time under the leadership of their poster boy MS Dhoni. Over the years, the team has been flourishing. But the TATA IPL 2022 season was not an ideal one. The team struggled and ended at the bottom of the table with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. With that being said, what has been the key to their success so far? Here is a look at the important points that set this team apart:

Depending on Multi-Dimensional Players has Helped CSK in the TATA IPL:

Their dependence on multi-dimensional players has helped Chennai Super Kings a lot. They do not rely on pure batters or pure bowlers. They pick players who can do both jobs. Over the years, we have seen players like Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Dwayne Smith, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dwayne Bravo play for the Chennai Super Kings. These players help to form a balanced team. In the 2021 season, they had the likes of Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Bravo, and Jadeja. Hence, they eventually went on to win the league. The same was the case in 2018 when they had Shane Watson.

MS Dhoni, A Terrific Leader:

MS Dhoni and his leadership role have had one of the most significant impacts. MS knows how to bring out the best in any player. Under his leadership average looking bowlers like Mohit Sharma, Sudeep Tyagi, and Deepak Chahar look, world-class. These players certainly have the skill and potential, it is only their ability, but the guidance of MS makes it shine bright. MS knows how to take the games deep into crunch situations where the opposition crumbles under pressure.

A good Balance of Youth and Experience has Helped CSK in the TATA IPL:

The Chennai Super Kings have also managed to keep a good balance of youth and experience. For the experience of Matthew Hayden, they had the youth of Parthiv Patel in TATA IPL 2008, for the experience of Michael Hussey, they had the youth of Suresh Raina in TATA IPL 2013. In the bowling department, Dwayne Bravo was their mainstay. While other bowlers like Ishwar Pandey, Mohit Sharma, Sudeep Tyagi, and Deepak Chahar have been there under his shadow. This balance allows them to be cautious and expressive at the same time.

Strong Domestic Players:

A strong pool of domestic players is always required. The major thing that sets Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings apart from the other teams is their domestic talent. They have good scouts that help to bring in the best domestic players. Every team consists of 4 overseas players but the ones that make a difference are the 7 Indian players. CSK formed a core of Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, Ashwin, and Badrinath in the early 2010s. That was their formula for success. Now they have MS, Jadeja, Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Ambati Rayudu. This group also looks very solid.
