Scotland has been the second of two teams from the current Europe Qualifier to secure a berth in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Scotland sealed their ticket for the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup with a 33-run win over Denmark at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
Scotland’s record remained unblemished throughout the tournament, winning matches against Germany, Jersey, Italy, Austria, and now Denmark.
With this, Scotland now have 10 points after 5 matches, giving them a chance to qualify for the T20 World Cup tournament in 2024. They join Ireland as the other qualifiers, having sealed their place after their game against Germany was canceled today.
This helped Scotland overcome the disappointment of failing to qualify for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
How Scotland qualified: Scotland began their campaign with a resounding 72-run (DLS method) victory over Germany. They followed that up with a 14-run victory over Jersey.
Their third encounter against Italy saw them perform admirably, defeating them by 155 runs after setting a big goal of 245/2. The juggernaut continued with another massive victory, this time over Austria by a margin of 166 runs.
Today, they qualified by defeating a spirited Denmark team by 33 runs in a rain-shortened match restricted to 18 overs each side.
