Suryakumar Yadav
T20 series

Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian batter who dominated the season 2022 entirely with his bat, has been crowned as the ICC T20I Player of the Year. Surya was in top-notch form throughout the season. He scored three hundreds in just one year of international cricket. Surya has grown by leaps and bounds since making his debut against England in 2021 and hitting his first delivery for a six off Jofra Archer. To quote Shahid Afridi, “If he has come to the international level after 250+ domestic games, you better give that man the respect he deserves.” Here is a look at the biggest achievement that Suryakumar Yadav has had this year:

Suryakumar Yadav did all that it takes to come to the national team in 2021. Before that, he had dominated the IPL for 3 seasons and the Indian domestic circuit for 2 years. He was scoring a mountain of runs post and he was considered to play for India. His comeback at the Mumbai Indians changed his life entirely. But his efforts have reaped rewards as he has been crowned as the ICC T20I Player of the Year 2022. Here is a look at his stats:

Suryakumar Yadav Scored 2 100s in 2022:

Suryakumar Yadav scored 2 hundred in 2022. His 1st hundred was against England at their home. On a pitch where the other Indian batters couldn’t get a 30, my man scored 117 runs. He was the only reason why India was in the game till the very last over. He scored 117 off 55 balls in Nottingham, which was the 3rd T20I of the series that India won. The next hundred was against New Zealand. He scored 111 runs off 55 balls and remained not out. He took India to a mammoth 191 runs after a faulty start.

Surya is the Number 1 Ranked T20I Batter:

Once an integral part of the Mumbai Indians squad, Surya has now become the backbone of the young Indian batting line-up. He is ranked number 1 in the ICC batter’s rankings for the T20I format. It is his range that makes him very versatile. Harbhajan Singh has titled him as the Indian AB De Villiers. He can score runs in all parts of the ground. His cover drives are strong and so are his scoop shots. He is also a part of the ICC T20I Team of the Year released by the BCCI.
