Scotland have gone through the qualifying rounds and will play in pool b alongside India.

Scotland, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have secured their positions in the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2021 that is being held in the UAE. The organization of the event is handed over to the BCCI and these 3 teams were playing the qualifying round. Scotland has ended on the top Group B of the qualifiers and is going to play in India’s pool. Bangladesh on the other hand is going to face the likes of Australia, England, and the West Indies in the other pool. Here is a look at how the teams made it to this stage: – 

Sri Lanka qualify for Super 12 of T20 World Cup 2021: – 

Sri Lanka has qualified for the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2021 after defeating Ireland in the last match. It is expected that Sri Lanka will end as table toppers and will enter the pool featuring teams like Windie’s, Bangladesh, Aussies, and the Englishmen. Sri Lanka started their campaign on a sweet note by defeating Namibia in the first game by 7 wickets. They were chasing a mere 100 runs. Their next game was against Ireland who was coming with a victory against Nederlands.  

Sri Lanka had saved their best for the World Cup and it was shown in full bloom.

Sri Lanka lost a few early wickets. But Wanindu Hasaranga scored a brilliant knock of 71 runs and saved the day. With this victory over Ireland by 70 runs, Sri Lanka is firmly placed at the top of Group A. 

Scotland qualify for Super 12 of T20 World Cup 2021: – 

It is a rare phenomenon where we witness an associate nation like Scotland beat Bangladesh. Bangladesh played with a full-strength team in the opener of the World Cup campaign against Scotland. They were on top of the game in the first innings with 6 wickets for 50 runs scored by the Scottish Team. But Christopher Greaves came to Scotland’s rescue. He went on to take the score to 140 runs. In the second innings, Bangladesh made a mockery of a simple chase and kept losing wickets. They lost the match by 6 runs.  

Scotland in the second game against PNG won by 17 runs. With 2 victories out of 2, they had sealed qualification. Today the team went on to beat Oman, the hosts, and sealed their position at the top.  

Bangladesh had a hiccup initially but got their campaign back on track with a victory against PNG and Oman.

Bangladesh qualifies for Super 12 of T20 World Cup 2021: – 

After a hiccup in the first game of the tournament in the form of a loss to Scotland, Bangla Tigers got their campaign back on track. They defeated the Oman side by a fairly decent margin of 26 runs in the second game. Their batting performance in this game was below average. However, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj starred with the ball. Bangladesh sealed their qualification with the 90+ run victory over PNG. The star of this game was once again Shakib Al Hasan with the bat as well as with the ball.
