SA20

This is the first edition of the SA20 league, and there is an opportunity for all six franchises to be the very first champions of the tournament. All six franchises and their management would be looking forward to going on to win the tournament with all their might.

The SA20 franchises will host a total of 30 league matches, from which four top teams will qualify for the semis, and ultimately the two semi-final winners will go on to play in the first season of the SA20 league.

Let’s see who can be the four possible semi finalists out of the six participating franchises. The four teams might be the Paarl Royals, MI Cape Town, Durban Super Giants, and Pretoria Capitals. All these teams are firm contenders to seal the top four positions, due to their strong batting and bowling lineups.

The Paarl Royals have a formidable batting lineup consisting of English limited-overs captain Jos Buttler, who has been in terrific form in T20s since last year and has shown his class in both the last editions of the IPL and the T20 World Cup. The Royals also have another firm supporter in their skipper David Miller, who is one of the most dangerous finishers in the shorter format of the game. The Royals will pin their hopes on these batters to register a semi-final spot in 2023.

Durban Super Giants are another contending side in the SA20 league, and they would rely on their skipper QDK to anchor the batting innings alongside Kyle Mayers and Heinrich Klaasen, besides allrounders Wiaan Mulder, Jason Holder, Dwaine Pretorius, and Keemo Paul who can play power-hitting cameos towards the end of the innings. The Giants also have a superior hand at bowling, as they have the likes of Reece Topley, Kyle Abbott, Simon Harmer, Keshav Maharaj, and the above-mentioned players who play a handy role from the bowling end too.

DSG Captain Faf du Plessis

MI Cape Town has a certain band of players who specialize in the bowling department. Ace pacers like Kagiso Rabada, Jofra Archer, and Sam Curran are part of the Cape Town side and are well-supported by their skipper, Rashid Khan, who is the modern-day complete cricketer in the shorter format of the game. Alongside all these players, Englishman Olly Stone has an upper hand in the tournament, supported by South African domestics Duan Jansen, Delano Potgieter, and Odean Smith. MI Cape Town is dependent on their bowlers for their qualification to the playoffs.

Pretoria Capitals consist of quality batters like Rilee Rossouw, English batters Phil Salt and Will Jacks, and Lankan opener Kusal Mendis. Alongside this young batting lineup, the Capitals have an experienced and smart set of bowlers in captain Wayne Parnell, speedster Anrich Nortje, Irish bowling sensation Josh Little, and English spinner Adil Rashid, and all of them are ace performers. They would all play an important role in the Pretoria Capitals’ expected success.

Predicted Winner Of SA20 2023

With a few games having been played already and some teams even showing great performances in the league, it is hard to predict the winner among them. However, few have achieved prominence, leaving us with only 1-2 teams from which to predict the winner.

The Durban Super Giants look to be the most formidable and deserving team on the team sheet that can win the SA20 in 2023. The balanced setup of the DSG side makes them the most anticipated winners of the first SA20 league.
