Rohit Sharma to join LSG in IPL 2025? Jonty Rhodes drops a massive hint
Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma is one of the most successful captains in Indian Premier League history. He has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles during his captaincy stint. Now he has also added the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy to his kitty, which has made him only the third Indian captain to win a World Cup.

But he has been in the news from the last IPL season in 2024. MI made a big decision of handing the captaincy job to Hardik Pandya, which backfired at them last season as they finished last on the table. Some reports also indicated that the five-time champions might not retain Rohit Sharma.

There is a mega auction scheduled in the IPL 2025. However, if MI release Rohit, then there will be a number of franchises who would love to have him in their corner. That’s what LSG assistant coach Jonty Rhodes also has to say.

Jonty Rhodes served as fielding coach with MI for nine seasons until 2017. He is cutting with Lucknow Super Giants as fielding coach. There were a few reports confirming that if Rohit Sharma enters the auction, then DC and LSG are two franchises that want to sign the Indian captain.

In an interview with News24, Jonty confirmed that LSG are keen to sign Rohit if MI would release him. He said, “If Rohit comes into the Auction, LSG is ready to welcome him. He is such a great player; every team will be glad to go for him in the auction.”

Rohit Sharma started his IPL career with Deccan Chargers and won the 2009 edition with them. Later, he joined MI in 2011. His first season as captain was in 2013, and he made it memorable by winning the maiden IPL title in his first attempt. His stature in the IPL is massive.

He is also the highest scorer for the five-time champions in the tournament’s history. Not just the IPL titles; Rohit has also led MI to two Champions League titles. He is currently 38 years old, and he might not play for another three years, but he will be on the bucket list for every team if MI release him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
