NZ vs SA 2024: New Zealand Star Batter Daryl Mitchell set to miss the Second Test against South Africa: New Zealand Cricket (NZC) reveals that Daryl Mitchell will miss the second and last test match against South Africa due to a foot injury, which he is battling since last couple of months. Daryl Mitchell has been performing phenomenally in international cricket for New Zealand and his absence will impact New Zealand’s middle order.

However, there is no replacement announced by the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) after Daryl Mitchell set to miss the second test match against South Africa. However, It is expected that New Zealand’s young pacer Will O’Rourke will be added to the Playing XI for the second test match.

It was a strategic move by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to rest Daryl Mitchell for the second test match as New Zealand will be playing a three-match T20I series against Australia, which is very crucial for them to test their bench strength before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against a strong Team.

Currently, New Zealand is leading the two-match test series against South Africa by 1-0. The Second and last test match of this series will be played on February 13, 2024, at Seddon Park Cricket Ground in Hamilton, New Zealand. New Zealand playing dominating cricket against the inexperience young side of South Africa and it is expected they will win this series by 2-0.

New Zealand played superb cricket in the first test match against South Africa at Bay Oval Cricket Ground in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand won the first test by a massive 281 runs and with this, they surpassed the Indian and Australian Team in the ICC World Test Championship Points Table.

After winning the first test match, New Zealand jumped to the first position as they have a PCT of 66.66% in 3 matches whereas the Australian Team is in second position in the ICC WTC Points Table with a PCT of 55.00% in 10 matches. However, the Indian Team slips to the third position with a PCT of 52.77% in six matches played so far in the ICC WTC 2023-25 cycle.
