No Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma will be The CAPTAIN of the Indian Team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah revealed that Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian Team in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma led the Indian Team phenomenally in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which helped him to lead the Indian Team in the T20 World Cup.
However, Hardik Pandya, who was also in the race to lead the Indian Team in the T20 World Cup 2024 is now the deputy of Rohit Sharma in the tournament. Hardik Pandya isn’t playing regular cricket as injury is a huge concern for him, which is was he didn’t prove himself in the International Cricket.
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans to a victory in the IPL 2022 and also was the runners-up in the IPL 2023 as Chennai Super Kings defeated them by 5 wickets in Ahmedabad. As of now, Hardik Pandya is recovering from an ankle injury ahead of IPL 2024 which is expected to start in upcoming months.
Currently, the Indian Team is playing the five-match test series against England under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. As of now, The series is tied by 1-1 as England won the first test match in Hyderabad whereas the Indian Team won the second test match in Vishakhapatnam.
Jay Shah Revealed Rohit to Captain and Hardik Pandya to be the vice-captain:
In the event of renaming the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian Team in the T20 World Cup 2024 as he is currently all three format captain whereas Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain of the Indian Team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
When and Where T20 World Cup 2024 Start?
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is a few months away, as the mega event is scheduled to commence from June 01, 2024 to June 29, 2024. USA and West Indies are the two host nation in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 however, most of the games will be played in the West Indies including the knockout stage matches.
