Jofra Archer: The team for England’s one-off Test against Ireland was announced, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) gave the most recent information on Jofra Archer’s health.
Jofra Archer’s frustrations are getting worse since the England bowler has been ruled out for the remainder of the summer, thus putting him out of the Ashes.
His time with the Mumbai Indians in the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was cut short when recent tests indicated a recurrence of a stress fracture to his right elbow. Now that his injury has been managed, Archer will get rehabilitation from the Sussex and England medical staff.
The ECB issued a statement after Mumbai Indians decided to dismiss Archer for the remainder of the season, claiming that the 28-year-old was “pushing through the discomfort while recently playing” but was unable to continue in the IPL.
“It has been a frustrating and upsetting period for Jofra Archer,” said ECB Managing Director for England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key. “He was making good progress until a recurrence of the elbow injury, which kept him out for an extended period previously.
“We wish him the best of luck with his recovery. I’m sure we will see Jofra back to his best and winning games for England, whatever the format. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.”

The most recent setback adds to Archer’s long list of injuries that have plagued him for the most of the previous three years. The legendary pacer made a comeback to international cricket in January 2023, but just for the matches against South Africa and Bangladesh in the white-ball forms.
The stress fracture that forced Archer to miss the first half of the year in the early months of 2020 is the origin of his elbow problems. After suffering an unexpected accident at home at the beginning of 2021, he needed surgery. He was sidelined for the full year in 2022 due to a stress fracture in his back in May.
