Tristan Stubbs Joins the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022:
Tristan Stubbs is another South African who joined the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai convoy currently has three young and talented South African players. They have the very impressive Dewald Brevis, they have Duan Jansen who is Marco Jansen’s brother, and now Tristan Stubbs has joined the men in blue and gold. Mumbai has always been keen on promoting young talent and their scouts are working effectively in South Africa to recruit quality players.
Tristan Stubbs plays for the Eastern Province in the South African domestic cricket circuit. He debuted for the Eastern Province in the ODI format in the 2019-2020 season. He had a decent season with the bat. Tristan then played for the Warriors in the local South African T20 League. He was mighty impressed with the bat in hand.
Tristan Stubbs is a Replacement for Tymal Mills:
Tymal Mills was ruled out of contention for the tournament and the BCCI permitted the Mumbai Indians to arrange for a replacement. The Mumbai team then roped in Tristan Stubbs. Tymal Mills however wasn’t having the best of seasons with the ball.
The official statement of the Mumbai Indians is as follows, “Mumbai Indians have signed South African Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for Tymal Mills, who has sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the Tata IPL. The 21-year-old, talented middle-order batter, recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league. Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season”.
