The IPL Auction Day 2 has been intriguing till now; unlike the first day of education, this day is not about an insane amount of money spent but a far more tactical move the teams are adapting to.

From Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s biggest bid of INR 10.75 crore to the vital inclusions of players like Krunal Pandya, Sam Curran, Marco Jansen, Tim David, and Deepak Chahar, the day has been a delt day fulfilling the requirements of many teams.

Amid all Mumbai Indians who remained quite silent despite their immense need for players, bid for English all-rounder Will Jacks. The bidding war continued between the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings until the focused MI brought him in for INR 5.25 crore.

After the bidding was over, RCB were asked if they would want to use their RTM on the player, to which they nodded without thinking twice. Post this, Akash Ambani, the MI owner, walked to the RCB table to thank him for his decision, seemingly indicating this got MI a fine opening all-rounder.

The English all-rounder is undoubtedly one of the current most fierce batters in World Cricket, especially in the shortest format of the game. His impact has been such that even on the national side, skipper Jos Buttler pushed himself down the order to make an opening for Jacks at the top of the batting order.

Jacks played a few matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2024. With not a very significant season, he backed himself with some good performances, alongside a memorable hundred, where he scored his second fifty within a span of just 2-overs.

MI will find Jacks of huge impact, especially up the order where he can take the hitting role and the pressure away from veteran batter Rohit Sharma. Jack’s off-spin can also be an additional up for the Mumbai Indians.
