Rajasthan Royals Crush LSG in IPL 2026 Thriller as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 93 Powers Stunning Chase in Jaipur

Rajasthan Royals Crush LSG in IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals kept their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive in spectacular fashion after chasing down a mammoth 221-run target against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The seven-wicket victory was powered by a sensational innings from teenage star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, whose breathtaking 93 off just 38 balls completely transformed the contest and reignited Rajasthan’s campaign.

In a match packed with explosive batting, fearless strokeplay, and playoff pressure, Rajasthan Royals showed remarkable composure to overhaul 220 with five balls remaining.

The result pushed RR into fourth place in the updated IPL 2026 points table, while LSG’s playoff hopes suffered another major setback.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Announces Himself on the Big Stage

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The night belonged to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The young batter delivered one of the most explosive innings of IPL 2026, smashing 93 runs from only 38 deliveries with seven boundaries and an astonishing ten sixes.

Coming into the chase after an aggressive start from captain Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sooryavanshi played with fearless confidence and remarkable maturity. He attacked the Lucknow bowlers from the beginning, refusing to let the asking rate build pressure.

Speaking after receiving the Player of the Match award, Sooryavanshi revealed that patience and clarity were central to his innings.

“I was sitting out during the first innings and felt the wicket was good, so my plan was not to rush but take my time and make an impact when I got the chance.”

The youngster also reflected on the growing attention around him and his calm mindset despite the hype.

“I do not really pay attention to what is being said outside as this is just the beginning and if I can build a long career, people will always have something to say.”

His fearless knock completely changed the momentum of the game. Every time LSG attempted to pull things back, Sooryavanshi responded with another towering six. His clean striking left the Jaipur crowd roaring and shifted the pressure entirely onto the visitors.

Rajasthan Royals’ chase was relentless.

Chasing 221 was never going to be easy, but Rajasthan approached the target with extraordinary intent. Captain Yashasvi Jaiswal provided the early momentum with a blistering 43 off 23 balls, smashing eight fours and a six.

Jaiswal’s aggressive approach during the powerplay ensured RR remained ahead of the required rate. After his dismissal, Sooryavanshi took over and turned the contest into a batting exhibition.

While the youngster grabbed the headlines, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel played a crucial supporting role. Jurel remained unbeaten on 53 off 38 balls and ensured Rajasthan never lost control during the chase.

Donovan Ferreira also contributed valuable runs at the end, finishing unbeaten on 16 from 10 deliveries.

Rajasthan eventually finished on 225 for 3 in just 19.1 overs, maintaining an extraordinary scoring rate throughout the innings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Praises Team Effort

Stand-in RR captain Yashasvi Jaiswal credited the collective effort behind the victory and highlighted the contributions from both batters and bowlers.

“Everyone put in the hard yards and stayed fully committed to the game, which was great to see.”

Jaiswal reserved special praise for England pacer Jofra Archer, whose spell during the powerplay helped restrict LSG from crossing an even bigger total.

“The way Jofra and Brijesh bowled stood out, especially Jofra’s comeback spell in the power play, which was outstanding.”

The RR captain also acknowledged the impact of Sooryavanshi and Jurel with the bat.

“With the bat, Dhruv and Vaibhav really took the game away from the opposition, and it was a pleasure to watch that unfold.”

Looking ahead to Rajasthan’s crucial final league match, Jaiswal stressed the importance of staying relaxed despite the playoff pressure.

“The idea is simple to stay relaxed, play with a smile and enjoy the game.”

Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis Powered LSG to 220

Earlier in the evening, Lucknow Super Giants looked firmly in control after posting a massive 220 for 5.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh produced a magnificent innings of 96 from 57 balls, striking eleven fours and five sixes. Marsh paced the innings beautifully and dominated Rajasthan’s bowling during the middle overs.

He received excellent support from fellow Australian Josh Inglis, who hammered 60 off only 29 deliveries. The pair added 109 runs and appeared set to take the game beyond Rajasthan’s reach.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant also chipped in with an important 35 off 23 balls late in the innings.

However, Rajasthan managed to pull things back slightly during the final overs, preventing LSG from reaching what could have been a match-winning total of 230 or more.

Rishabh Pant Reflects on Another Tough Defeat

After the match, Rishabh Pant admitted that LSG were probably short by a few runs despite crossing 220.

“At the halfway stage we felt we could have pushed for five or ten runs more because the wicket had enough in it, but we could not capitalize at the end.”

Pant also praised Jofra Archer’s bowling spell and explained the difficulties bowlers faced on such a batting-friendly surface.

“On surfaces like this, coming up with different bowling plans is always challenging because the margin for error is very small.”

The LSG skipper also acknowledged the absence of experienced players like Mohammed Shami as a factor during pressure situations.

“Experience is something you always miss because it cannot be gained overnight.”

Despite the disappointing result, Pant backed his squad and maintained confidence in the team’s quality.

“Irrespective of where we stand on the table, we are proud of this group.”

IPL 2026 Points Table Gets More Intense

The victory significantly boosted Rajasthan Royals’ playoff hopes. RR moved to fourth place with 14 points from 13 matches and stayed firmly in the race for a playoff spot.

At the top of the table, Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued to lead with 18 points, while Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad remained close behind on 16 points each.

For Lucknow Super Giants, the defeat was another painful blow. LSG remained at the bottom of the standings with only four wins from 13 games, leaving their campaign hanging by a thread.

A Star Is Emerging for Rajasthan Royals

While Rajasthan’s victory strengthened their playoff chances, the bigger story of the night may have been the arrival of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as a genuine IPL superstar.

In a tournament filled with international stars, the youngster stole the spotlight with a fearless display that combined confidence, timing, and raw power. His ability to dominate experienced bowlers under pressure showed maturity beyond his years.

If this innings is any indication, Rajasthan Royals may have discovered one of the brightest young stars of IPL 2026 at exactly the right moment.
