PBKS vs LSG: LSG is the second franchise that made its debut last year and was highly accomplished, while on the other hand, the Kings have an origin dating back to 15 years, but despite being one of the first formed teams in the inaugural season, they could never get their hands on the title.

PBKS share a passionate rivalry against the Lucknow Super Giants after the Kings suffered a crushing defeat in the only match against LSG last season, and now that PBKS have taken their revenge in this year’s IPL, LSG will look to take a dig back at them.

PBKS vs LSG: Head to Head

The Punjab Kings have been holding out with their legacy for a huge period of around 15 years and are featured in the 16th edition of the league. However, LSG made their debut in 2022 and has already left an impact on IPL 2022 and is continuing with it in 2023.

Both teams have encountered each other just a single time in IPL 2022, with LSG having won the only match, and both innings of the encounter were led by their bowlers, as the spin-pace duo of Rabada and Chahar constrained the Super Giants to a low total of nearly 150, but in response, the LSG bowlers Mohsin and Krunal were even more prolific as they restricted them to an even lower total.

PBKS vs LSG: Top 2 Memorable Matches

After their last big win, PBKS have regained their lost confidence, and now they are swollen up to face LSG on Friday. We take a brief note of the last 2 encounters between these 2 franchises, and we recall the sheer dominance of the bowlers in both contests.

1. The first encounter between these two franchises was on April 29, 2022, when LSG batters kept on descending throughout their batting innings before putting on a modest total of 153. With a bit of a good show by Protea T20 veteran Quinton De Kock and sweet little cameos from the LSG batters coming down the order.

On the bowling front, Rabada picked up four wickets to his name, and in return, LSG bowlers, the quick Mohsin Khan and all-rounder Krunal, well blended by Chameera and Bishnoi, restricted the dangerous PBKS batting lineup.

To a total of 20 runs short of the LSG-set target. Though De Kock and Mohsin led with the bat and ball, it was Krunal who was chosen as the Man of the Match for his middle-order contribution with the bat and his wickets with the ball.

2. In this year’s first encounter against them, the LSG batting collapsed miserably since their first wicket, but with some severance shown by the skipper Rahul, who put in 76 runs alone, their team total reached 159 in 20 overs. Curran, the stand-in skipper, took 3 wickets along with Rabada’s 2.

Coming to bat without their skipper, PBKS’ batting was built under Matt Short’s 34 and later Sikander Raza’s 57 off 41, which was a match-winning performance. Shahrukh Khan led the PBKS innings to a proper winning finish when he accessed the boundaries with ease and scored 25 off just 10 deliveries.
