IPL 2025 LSG vs CSK Match Highlights: The Lucknow Super Giants are currently hosting the Chennai Super Kings at their home ground in the Ekana Stadium at Lucknow. This is LSG’s second home game of the season.

The Lucknow Super Giants have a star-studded lineup in the season under their new skipper Rishabh Pant and the new management headed by the likes of mentor Zaheer Khan and head coach Justin Langer. The Lucknow side has seen some serious offensive batting from their top three, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, of whom Pooran currently leads the list of top-run scorers. While Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep and Avesh Khan form a fine Indian pace duo alongside Digvesh Rathi and Bishnoi as the spinners in form. Currently, they lead the points table with 4 wins in 6 games and are placed in the 3rd position of the points table.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been playing their most disappointing season, as they have lost 5 games in a row and are placed at the bottom of the points table with a huge pile of losses. Only the likes of CSK bowlers have starred this season, with Noor Ahmed and Khaleel Ahmed both leading the purple cap list. Currently led by veteran skipper MS Dhoni, CSK has not shown any major chances of bouncing back to form.

The Lucknow Super Giants were handed the role to bat first at their home venue. The likes of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram came to open the innings on another occasion. Markram was dismissed in the very first over of the game by Khaleel Ahmed, while Nicholas Pooran was dismissed in the second over by Anhsul Kamboj, who shared the new ball alongside Khaleel Ahmed.

CSK won the powerplay against LSG, as they were two wickets down and struggling at a score of less than 50 for the first time this season. Skipper Rishabh Pant and opener Mitchell Marsh built on a good partnership before Marsh was dismissed looking to pull Jadeja off the back foot. Pant alongside Bandoni and later Abdul Samad, added more than 100 runs to the team’s total, as Rishabh Pant scored his first fifty of this edition of the IPL. Pant’s 63 in good time helped LSG set a target of 167 for the Super Kings in their 20 overs.

Chennai Super Kings unlike other flopped batting units have not failed to make a promising start to their chase or innings, this time around as well, Rachin Ravindra and newbie youngster Sheikh Rasheed. They gave CSK another 50+ opening partnership without loss of any wicket.

However, the fifth over in the powerplay marked Avesh Khan’s accuracy to the new batter that left him baffled. The openers were dismissed after giving CSK an initial start, while Rahul Tripathi and Jadeja, who were sent to bat early on, ended up losing their wickets in no time.

Shivam Dube remained on the wicket as he clung on despite not being able to score quick runs; he later took Shardul Thakur for runs in the 19th over and pulled the match totally in favour of the Super Kings. MS Dhoni’s crucial cameo of 26 runs off just 11 balls helped CSK seal their second win in IPL 2025.
