IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians (MI) Qualifications Scenario, How MI can make it into the Top 4? The Five-times Champions Mumbai Indians (MI) failed to give their best performance in the TATA IPL 2024 as they have played 10 matches so far but were able to win only three games. As of now, Mumbai Indians are in 9th position in the TATA IPL Points Table 2024 with 6 points and an NRR of -0.272 therefore they need to play better cricket.
In the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians finished in the top 4 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. However, Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as a captain in the TATA IPL 2024, previously Hardik Pandya was leading Gujarat Titans in the tournament. Hardik was quite successful with GT as they won one title and were runner-up in the IPL 2023.
But, Hardik Pandya failed to replicate the same performance with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. In the initial games of TATA IPL 2024, the MI batting unit was struggling but as the tournament progressed, the Bowlers weren’t performing well as they were leaking lots of runs. Therefore, Mumbai Indians lost seven games out of ten matches so far in the TATA IPL 2024.
Mumbai Indians (MI), who are known for its slow start and then, make a strong comeback in the middle of the tournament. But, in this season, They aren’t doing well as MI’s performance in IPL 2024 is like a roller-coaster ride and it might even worsen.
Top 2 Changes Mumbai Indians (MI) should do to get on the Winning track:
Mumbai Indians (MI) have an excellent batting unit, which includes players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kisan and Tilak Verma. But, the main problem is in their middle order and bowling unit. As we see in the past few games, MI batters especially the middle order failed to finish the inning and bowlers failed to get early wickets.
The First change Mumbai Indians (MI) should make is the addition of Piyush Chawla in the Playing XI, he was the leading wicket-taker for MI in the TATA IPL 2023. MI bowlers struggled to get wickets in the middle overs, which led opponents to have big partnerships and then, dominate the game.
The Second change should be the addition of Indian youngsters like Nehal Wadhera and Vishu Vinod in the Playing XI as they have impressed everyone a lot in the last edition. The Big names like Tim David, Mohd. Nabi and Romario Shepherd aren’t doing well as they continuously failed to score runs in the death overs.
How Mathematically can Mumbai Indians (MI) get into the Top 4?
Mumbai Indians have left four games in the TATA IPL 2024 and they need to win all with decent margins to have 14 points and a good net run rate but other teams like SRH, KKR, LSG and CSK need to lose all of their upcoming matches. It is almost impossible that the current top 5 teams will lose 4 games in their five matches left whereas Mumbai Indians will win all their four upcoming games, who have lost seven matches so far in the tournament.
