IPL 2023 Auction Update: As we knew, the mini-auction for IPL 2023 is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Kochi. Season 16 will be auctioned off under the hammer of Hugh Edmeades, Best Auctioneer. The IPL auction has been hosted by Hugh Edmeads since he replaced host Richard Madley in 2018. In the mega auction for IPL season 15, which is being held in Bangalore in February 2022, he collapsed due to postural hypotension on the first day of the event.

The auction had to be postponed following the unfortunate incident involving Hugh Edmeades. Meanwhile, the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Charu Sharma replaced Hugh Edmeades as the caretaker announcer and completed the auction. He was being looked after by the Halani medical team. When he came back after recovering before the end of the mega auction, he was welcomed back with applause by all the franchise members and BCCI officials. The final phase of the auction was led by Edmides himself.
Hugh Admire says: I am thrilled
There was doubt whether the board would appoint Admids to conduct the IPL auction again. However, Hugh Edmeades on Tuesday said that he will lead the auction for the upcoming season of the cash-rich IPL tournament event and will fly to Kochi via Dubai.
“I am thrilled to have been asked by the BCCI to conduct the 2023 IPL auction and am excited about visiting Kochi for the first time,” Edmeades told Sportstar.
Edmonds spent 38 years working with the renowned Christie’s, an independent fine art, classic car and charity auctioneer. With an experience of conducting over 2500 auctions globally, Adams also visited Jaipur for the IPL auction in December 2018, his first stint with Indian cricket.
After the completion of the IPL 2022 mega auction in February, Edmeads said it was “silly” of him not to eat, which could be one of the reasons for his low blood pressure. leaving the past behind auctioneer, however, is anticipating an “exciting” auction in Kochi with 10 franchisees going all in to make some wise purchases.
