5 time IPL Winning Captain, Sharma will be taking over the team from Virat

The Indian Cricket Team for the New Zealand home series to begin on 17th November 2021 was announced in the evening on Tuesday. The biggest and most important update is that Rohit Sharma, the veteran Indian batsman is set to take over the T20 Captaincy from Virat Kohli. The other updates are that the 3 format players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested for the series. The fresh faces who have found their name on the team sheet are Avesh Khan and Venkatesh Iyer. Here is a look at the team: –

Rohit Sharma Named T20 Captain for New Zealand Home Series: –

Sharma has been named full-time captain for the New Zealand Home Series. This settles all the arguments for the position of the captain. The other rumors included the names of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Rohit Sharma was the front runner and his success in the IPL makes the future of Indian Cricket look bright.

Yuzvendra Chahal replaces Rahul Chahar: –

Yuzvendra Chahal happens to be Indian Cricket’s latest Comeback Man.

For the New Zealand home series, India’s most successful T20 bowler, Yuzvendra Chahal has made a comeback. This return has been rewarded to him after he had a dream IPL season. His case for selection was made strong by the poor form of his competition Rahul Chahar. Yuzvendra Chahal brings with him a truck-load of experience and wicket-taking ability. India was missing a wicket-taker in the first 2 games of the World Cup and this weakness got exposed. The other update is that Varun Chakravarthy too has been dropped because of constant niggles and poor form.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer, and Avesh Khan Rewarded: –

Venkatesh Iyer has been picked after an exceptional season in the IPL.

After piling on the performances in the domestic circuit and the IPL, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been drafted to the Top-Tier Indian Cricket Team. He has pipped his competition, Prithvi Shaw, to get this opportunity. Ruturaj was the Orange Cap Holder in IPL 2021. Venkatesh Iyer too has been picked after a good IPL season. Avesh Khan has stepped in to fill the void formed by the absence of Mohammad Shami. Avesh had a great IPL season as well. He has earned his position in the squad by sheer performance.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar backed: –

The Indian Cricket Team management has backed veteran pacer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Bhuvneshwar has a bad season last year apart from February where he was ICC Player of the Month.
