Suryakumar Yadav’s recent rise has not gone unnoticed as the Indian batsman made massive gains in the latest MRF Tires ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.

Suryakumar Yadav stroked his maiden T20I century in the final match of India’s three-match T20I series against England earlier this week and his knock helped him to a career-high 732 points in the rankings.

The 31-year-old jumped an impressive 44 places to fifth overall in the latest MRF tire batting rankings released by the ICC on Wednesday, with the aggressive right-hander now the leading Indian batsman in the game’s shortest format.

SuryaKumar Yadav only made his international debut for India last year but is already putting together an impressive resume as judged by his recent rise up the rankings.

Overall, SuryaKumar has four T20I half-centuries to his name in the last 16 months, with his brilliant 117 off just 55 balls against England catching the captain’s eye.

“It was one of the best (innings) in T20s I’ve seen,” India captain Rohit Sharma said.

“You only get to see that every now and then.

“We know the quality of him, he’s got shots all over the ground, maneuvering the field, playing all around the ground. It’s a very rare quality a batter can have and Surya definitely has all of that.”

Yadav wasn’t the only Indian player to make giant strides on the latest rankings release, with pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar jumping inside the top 10 for bowlers following his efforts with the ball against England.

Bhuvneshwar was adjudged Player of the Series against England, with his impressive haul of 3/15 in the second match helping the 32-year-old rise seven places to equal seventh on the rankings for bowlers.

India team-mate Harshal Patel jumps 10 spots to 23rd, while West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran moves up five spots to eighth on the rankings for batters.

The biggest change in the Test rankings this week was the rise of Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne to a career-high rating and a jump of one spot to seventh on the latest rankings for batters.

Karunaratne hit a well-compiled 86 in the first innings of Sri Lanka’s dominant victory over the Aussies and in the process displaced Australia’s opener, Usman Khawaja, in the seventh spot on the rankings.

Compatriot Dinesh Chandimal moved up a whopping 19 spots to 29th overall on the back of his superb double century, while left-arm quick Mitchell Starc jumped up two spots and replaced Australia team-mate Josh Hazlewood inside the top 10 for bowlers following his four-wicket haul against Sri Lanka.
