IND vs BAN: India secure talking points as they strengthen their hold on the top spot of the WTC points table

IND vs BAN: The India vs Bangladesh series has come to an end, as the Indians have dominated in a major red ball series, the first of the many they are about to play this season. India sealed the series against Bangladesh with a clean sweep over the visitors, 2-0, as India now has a commanding hold on the WTC points table.

The first test match marked India’s start of the 10-match long test schedule they have, while, the Chennai test marked a commanding overall show from the Indian players when they won by a huge margin of 280 runs.

Indian batters Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja scored stunningly, with their hundred and fifty respectively, which gave India the early lead they desired. The second innings were followed by Jadeja, Bumrah and the bowlers’ domination as they restricted the Bangladeshis early, as Indian batters Gill and Pant again posted respective hundreds.

Ravi Ashwin’s 6-fer in the second innings was what led India to a thumping victory. After the first game, the second test match action moved to Kanpur.

However, the Kanpur test was largely faulted due to heavy rains, on the early three days of the test as action resumed only on Day 4 and Day 5, when these two days went for some breathtaking red ball action featuring the two teams.

Bangladesh who seemed formidable at 107/3, faltered despite the stunning hundred of Mominul Haque, as Bangladesh collapsed for a minor 233. India in return posted a 285/9, as they declared their innings after scoring at a rate above 8, the highest ever for 200+ runs scored in a test innings.

Batters Jaiswal and KL Rahul almost played a T20 innings in the longest format of the game, as Gill and Kohli also had quick runs under their belt.

The second innings of the Bangladeshi’s went in favour of Indian bowlers again, as first Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja pulled restrictions to the Bangladesh innings. Later, Jasprit Bumrah showed determination and example as he broke open the defence of Mushfiqur Rahim.

India had to chase down a small target of 98 runs, as Indian opener Yeshasvi Jaiswal once again dominated with the bat and scored a half-century to give India the kickstart they wanted to their innings, India won the match by 7 wickets as India had a clean sweep over the visitors.
