IND vs AUS: India has announced two distinct squads for the upcoming ODI series against Australia, just prior to the commencement of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been given a recall to the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia, which precedes the start of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, scheduled to kick off next month.

Ashwin, who last participated in an ODI in January 2022, joins as the third spinner alongside Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.

It’s worth noting that Ashwin was not initially included in India’s initial 15-member World Cup squad and was also absent from the Asia Cup team.

His last two ODIs against South Africa in 2022 marked his return to the fifty-overs format for India after a five-year absence since 2017, before he was once again sidelined.

KL Rahul has been appointed as the captain for the first two games, while regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been given a rest during those matches. Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will make their comeback for the final ODI, with Rohit resuming his leadership role.

Washington Sundar, who was part of the squad that flew to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup final, has been retained in both squads.

Axar Patel, who sustained an injury before the final, is in the process of recovering and is expected to participate in the third ODI if he regains full fitness.

Rohit Sharma disclosed during a press conference after the Asia Cup that he had been engaged in discussions with Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ajit Agarkar said at the press conference.

“As a spinner-all-rounder, Ashwin is in line, I have been talking to him on the phone,” Rohit said on Sunday. Ajit Agarkar confirmed that it was Ashwin’s experience that gave him the edge despite the lack of recent ODIs.

“Axar got injured, Washington already joined the squad for Asia Cup and Ravichandran Ashwin brings a lot of experience,”

“Both Ashwin and Washington are backups. Axar should be okay with time. If the need arises we will take a call.”

“Rohit is taking a break. Others are getting relief. Rohit and Virat are together forever. Hardik is also there. Kuldeep is also there. They got a chance to play a lot of cricket in the Asia Cup. People need a mental break and The third game has to be played.” Our main players will play.”

The series is scheduled to begin on September 22, 2023. This will be the final series played by either team before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Shreyas Iyer, who missed the Asia Cup 2023 due to injury, will play the entire series according to Ajit Agarkar.

Ajit Agarkar said: “Shreyas Iyer didn’t pick a stress fracture or else he won’t be a part of this squad. He’s fit and we’re hopeful he will play all games in this series,”

India has also declared its 15-man World Cup team, and they have till September 28 to make changes, after which any changes must be approved by the ICC.
