IND vs AUS: Indian top-order batter Shubman Gill got injured during the match simulation at the WACA ground in Perth. While fielding, he injured his left thumb and missed the first Test match between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Showing the world-class team they are, as they dominated the home ground in all departments be it standout batting form or stunning pace bowling performance. Despite the fragile start, the bowlers gave it back to the Aussie batters, while even the Indian batters set a high target in the second innings. This helped them earn a huge win over 295 runs against the Aussies.
Skipper Rohit who missed the Perth test owing to personal reasons, has made his arrival in Australia and is all set to make his return to the test side. His return seems to be significant not only for the Indian side but also for the player himself, this would be his last chance to overcome his weak patch of form.
Indian batter Shubman Gill has also recovered from his injury and is expected to be part of India’s squad for the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy game in Adelaide. Gill’s return will add further semblance to India’s batting lineup, but will also instil doubt on KL Rahul’s role in the side.
Gill opened up on his injury and recovery before the second test match. He stated, “Any ball when it hits the bat, especially in the middle of the bat. The feeling that you get, that’s the feeling that I play for.”
“I was just trying to get a feel, to be honest, see how the injury is reacting if there is any kind of hardness or any kind of soreness with me playing, but it actually went much better than I expected and Kamlesh bhai expected, and I’m very happy with that,” he added.
Shubman Gill’s practice sessions seem to bolster his confidence before the vital game in the second match of the BGT. Gill is toiling himself hard to thorough himself with Aussie conditions and bring in a touch of balance and aggression to his batting.
