IND vs AUS: Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been the star of India’s 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign. The ace pacer has been a brute force who seemed unstoppable for the Aussies.
Even the likes of the greatest of Australian batters, like Steven Smith and the most in-form Travis Head, have not been able to get the best out of Bumrah’s bowling.
Before starting the Boxing Day test, Jasprit Bumrah had 194 wickets in his test career, as the legendary bowler required just 6 wickets to ace 200 red ball wickets for India, the eighth to have done so.
Jasprit Bumrah, who was taken for some runs in the first innings by the inspiring debutant Sam Konstas, later bounced back to his sublime form, as Bumrah picked 4 wickets in the innings, which included the wickets of set Usman Khawaja and Travis Head for a duck and Mitchell Marsh in quick succession.
In the second innings, Bumrah had the upper hand over Sam Konstas, the youngster, as Bumrah cleaned him up in the second innings. After having picked his first wicket, Bumrah got to his 200th test wicket, dismissing Travis Head, the birthday boy, once again at the MCG for just 1 run.
Bumrah completed 200 test wickets, averaging less than 20, which seems impeccable for any bowler in the world, while this remains a unique feat ever achieved by an Indian speedster.
Further, Bumrah again got the wickets of Aussie no. 6 and no. 7, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey, as the Aussies, who were once 76/2, seemed to be in deep trouble as they were reduced to 91/6. Skipper Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne, the only set batters, are in an attempt to build some consolidation for Australia.
