ICC Team Rankings: Ireland created history after defeating Pakistan for the first time in the T20I cricket, it was a special victory for Ireland ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. As of now, Pakistan slips to the 7th position in the latest ICC Team Rankings with a rating of 245 whereas Ireland moves to the 11th spot with a rating of 195 after winning the match against Pakistan. Ireland will be looking to continue the same momentum in the upcoming matches as well.
Ireland won the first T20I match of the three-matches T20I series against Pakistan by 5 wickets at Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin. The Player of the match was Andrew Balbirnie as he played a phenomenal inning of 77 runs in 55 balls, he stood from one end and led Ireland till last to win the match against a strong team like Pakistan, who were playing with their full strength.
After losing the toss, Pakistan batted first and they scored 182 runs on the scoreboard with a loss of 6 wickets, Saim Ayub and Skipper Babar Azam gave a decent start to the team in the powerplay both couldn’t convert the partnership into the big one. Babar Azam scored 57 runs in 43 balls whereas Saim Ayub scored 45 runs in 29 balls.
But, after they got out middle order batters easily lost their wicket however, Iftikhar Ahmed played a stormy inning of 37 runs in just 15 balls and led Pakistan to a good total. From the Ireland Bowling unit, Craig Youngs took two wickets whereas Mark Adair and Gareth Delany took one wicket each.
Ireland easily chased the target of 183 runs as the opener Andrew Balbirnie and Harry Tector made a crucial partnership of 77 runs for the 3rd wicket. Therefore, Pakistani bowlers failed to break the partnership and lost the match. From the Pakistan bowling unit, Abbas Afridi took two wickets whereas Shaheen Afridi, Naseen Shah and Imad Wasim took one wicket each.

After the PAK vs IRE 1st t20I, the Indian Team is comfortably present in first position in the latest ICC Team Rankings with a rating of 264. India has played 47 matches so far and they have the highest 12,410 points as compared to other teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Standings.
Australia and England have occupied 2nd and 3rd spot in the ICC Team Rankings with a rating of 257 and 252, respectively. However, England is going to play four-matches T20I series against Pakistan later this month therefore they have an excellent opportunity to surpass Australia and get close to India in the ICC Team Rankings.
