IND vs AUS: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is back with the Indian side at Adelaide. Rohit won the toss and elected to bat first against the home team. KL Rahul has been offered the opening spot alongside young Jaiswal due to his dominance at the top in the Perth Test.

Mitchell Starc, the great fast bowler who has an invincible record with the pink ball, steamed in against Jaiswal as he came in to bat at Adelaide after his heroic innings at Perth. Starc pitched one right at the front of the pads; Jaiswal missed it totally as he was plum out LBW.

Starc claimed the wicket on the very first ball, as Australia seemed to be on the front foot from the opening ball, while opener KL Rahul and Shubman Gill have now given some semblance to the Indian innings, building onto a 50-run partnership.

Ravichandran Ashwin is back in the Indian playing XI

Earlier there was speculation that Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir was likely considering Washington Sundar to replace the likes of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja from the Indian test side.

India has these two all-rounders as the best in the world, even under ICC rankings. However, making these speculations untrue, Ashwin has been called back into the playing 11, maybe considering his experience with the pink ball.

Sundar, who is a relatively young spinner, has not had considerable experience, while Ashwin, the ace spinner with the second most test wickets for India, would pose a serious threat to the Aussie even on the pace-benefitting tracks.
