The young and dynamic opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to retain his spot at the top of the order for India’s upcoming tour of Australia, having earned praise for his stellar performances in the red-ball format. In Rohit’s absence, Jaiswal would have the responsibility to settle the Indian innings at the top.

2: KL Rahul

Versatile Indian batter KL Rahul is expected to replace captain Rohit Sharma, who is unavailable from the first Test match, citing personal reasons. Though KL Rahul has not earned form as of yet, his immense experience still earns him a favorite spot at the top until the skipper returns.

3: Sarfaraz Khan

Talented middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan is expected to play at No. 3, after batter Shubman Gill injured his thumb while practicing. He is an emerging talent in Indian cricket with a solid technique and temperament. Sarfafarz Khan, who was part of the Indian squad, scored a century against New Zealand in India.

It would be a great test of his temperament and his adaptability to varying conditions.

4: Virat Kohli

There has been immense speculation on Virat Kohli’s return to form in the upcoming BGT, with the likes of several Indian as well as overseas players praising Kohli’s expertise in the island nation.

He loves to play in Australia and is expected to score a huge amount of runs, which can help India retain the title.

5: Rishabh Pant

The dynamic and fearless wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, is set to start the tour against Australia in Perth. Pant was the history creator in Australia when he smashed hundreds at Australia in the last BGT. Pant’s return to red-ball cricket since his injury has also been a remarkable tale of cricketing genius. Pant’s fearless attitude and ability to turn games around could again be vital from India’s point of view.

6: Dhruv Jurel

There would be a title battle for the No. 6 spot in the Indian cricket team. Both Sarfaraz and Dhruv have impressed with their performances recently. Dhruv Jurel, who was a part of the India A squad, played an impactful knock against Australia A in a much more challenging condition.

7: Ravindra Jadeja

Though some chances of reserving NK Reddy as their all-rounder option, likely to make his debut in Australia, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, one of the most valuable all-rounders in modern cricket, have been a crucial part of Team India for a very long time.

One of them will get a chance to play against the Mighty Aussies in Perth, depending upon the pitch and conditions of the ground.

8: Ravichandran Ashwin

One of the most skilled and intelligent spinners in world cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin, is set to play the first Test match in Perth. Ravi Ashwin will compete with his nearest competitor, Nathan Lyon, the one who toppled him with the most wickets in the WTC.
Ashwin can also be an asset to the Indian side with the bat as well.

9: Jasprit Bumrah (C)

The Indian red-ball vice-captain will take up the role of the Indian skipper alongside spearheading the Indian bowling deck. Bumrah will be the only experienced pace-bowling asset in the absence of Mohammad Shami.

10: Mohammed Siraj

Though Mohammad Siraj’s form has been under considerable doubt since he has gone wicketless over occasions with the red ball. Siraj, despite his compiling form, will be India’s opening seamer alongside the skipper.

11: Prasidh Krishna

For India, both Akash Deep as well as Prasidh Krishna are emerging pacemen for India, especially in the longest format of the game. Prasidh, the right-arm fast bowler, nailed under the tough bouncy tracks of Australia, can be the best pick for the 11.
