IND vs AUS: Scott Boland, who has been a backup fast bowler for Australia for a very long time, is recalled by captain Pat Cummins ahead of the day-night clash in Adelaide. He is set to play for the Australian side in nearly 18 months, replacing injured pacer Josh Hazlewood.

Scott Boland played his last Test match in July 2023 against England at Leeds. While he delivered a disciplined bowling performance, he was unable to claim any wickets during the game. The pacer was also a part of the PMXI against India but failed to open his wicket counter.

Australian captain Pat Cummins stated, “Traditionally here there’s normally a bit of nip, which obviously suits Scotty quite well. All last summer he was geared up to go and no one fell over. It’s been quite a while. He had a good hit out in Canberra a couple of days ago, so his prep’s been really good; he’s happy with how it’s coming out and his rhythm.”

“As a captain, it’s pretty awesome for someone like Scotty to come in. You know he can bowl a huge amount of overs if you need him. He’s super consistent, he’s performed at this level, so he’s ready to go.” he added.

This statement from Pat Cummins reflects the team’s unwavering confidence and belief in Scott Boland’s abilities, despite his lack of recent match practice. It showcases the strong team culture within the squad, emphasizing their trust in Boland’s skills and his readiness to perform whenever given the opportunity. Such support is crucial for maintaining a player’s morale and ensuring they remain motivated during periods of limited game time.

Cummins also revealed that Josh Hazlewood will be fit to return for the third Test at the Gabba. Hazlewood has dealt with several side strain injuries over the past few years; that’s why he has been rested by the team.
