Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a major injury during the Indian team’s second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka, as Sharma injured his thumb while fielding. The injury occurred during the fourth delivery of the second over bowled by Mohammed Siraj as Rohit, fielding in the slip cordon, tried to catch the ball and injured his thumb. The Indian captain was immediately taken off the field and given first aid for his injury and replaced by Rajat Patidar.
Soon after, the BCCI issued a statement on Twitter confirming the injury, with the update that he has been sent for scans. “India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans.”
