Mitchell Starc, the two-time World Cup winner for Australia recently in a representation with Star Sports, claimed to enjoy his intense on-field battles with Virat Kohli.

The legendary Indian cricketer is often referred to as the ‘King’ of Indian cricket, arguably World cricket as well. He is the finest among modern batters and often named the best among Fab4.

“I enjoy my battles with Virat Kohli just because we’ve played a lot of cricket against one another. I always have some good battles. I’ve obviously got him once or twice, and he’s no doubt scored a fair few runs against me. So, it’s always a good contest and one we both enjoy.” said Starc to Star Sports.

While the Border Gavaskar Trophy is approaching, taking a look at the Test match head-to-head between Starc and Kohli, the stunning batter has had the upper hand over the ace pacer, as Kohli scored 236 runs against him, averaging 59 in Tests. While Starc has dismissed him four times.

With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaching in 2024, the Australians are desperate for a win, as India has won the BGT for a record two times in a row on Aussie soil. They are eyeing a hat trick, as Starc and Kohli will meet in the series again.

The 5-match series will also include the Boxing Day test and will be the final series for the Indian side before they enter the WTC finals if they can for the third consecutive time. Kohli has scored 1352 runs in 13 innings against Australia, while on the other hand, Mitchell Starc went on to pick 217 wickets under home conditions.

Starc has emerged as Australia’s greatest bowler of the generation since Brett Lee, as both of these pacers are known for their acute pace and ability to bowl unplayable yorkers, known as ‘Toe Crushers’. Starc has already broken records of the great Mitchell Johnson, as he now inches closer to the legendary Brett Lee to emerge as Australia’s third-highest wicket-taker across all formats. Starc is only 45 wickets away from this amazing feat.

On the contrary, Virat Kohli looks to re-establish himself as a test maestro. Since his weak form in red-ball cricket has been a concern, as he now lies in the bottom among the Fab4. The fans might be ready to witness an exciting contest between Kohli and Starc.
