AUS vs IND: New Australian sensation Sam Konstas, who opened for Australia in the MCG and SCG tests, was much in the buzz for having fierce confrontations with several Indian senior players.

He was first taken under his wing by Virat Kohli, as he threatened the youngster with a body battle that ensued during Konstas’s breathtaking innings at the Melbourne Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Though cricket enthusiasts found it very intriguing, the ICC fined Virat Kohli for this misconduct over-the-shoulder block against the young opener.

However, the final Sydney test saw the confrontation between Indian lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was set as the stand-in skipper for the second time in the series. This time around the confrontation seemingly looked very ugly; however, the 19-year-old accepted that it was his fault to stop Bumrah in the midst of his bowling follow-through.

Though the batter claimed he did this as he felt his opening partner Khawaja needed some more time to face the next delivery, Bumrah seemed to be fuming as he minced high pace on successive balls before dismissing Khawaja off the final ball of the over.

“Oh, I didn’t get too fazed. Unfortunately, Uzi got out. He was trying to buy some time a little bit. It was probably my fault, but it happens. It’s cricket,”

said Konstas in a post-match session

Sam Konstas is keen to feature in the two-match test series against Sri Lanka

Konstas, the fine youngster, has retained his hopes to keep up with his place in the Australian squad, especially after his decent show in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Aussies will next visit the sub-continent island of Sri Lanka as a part of the final test series to be played in this WTC. Though the Aussies have already qualified for the WTC final, this series seems like a good game to bolster their red ball game.

The series will begin on January 29th. Skipper Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are supposed to be out of the series owing to personal reasons and injury, respectively. Players like Beau Webster, Sam Konstas, and Nathan McSweeney might be hoping to be backed for opportunities.

“Yeah, I’m not too sure if I’m selected yet. I think we’ll find out in the next few days, but obviously adapting to different conditions—maybe we’ll find a new Sam. I think so, but time will tell.” said Konstas.
