In the first innings, Bangladesh struggled at the beginning, losing early wickets. However, Najmul Hossain Shanto played a remarkable innings, scoring 89 runs off 122 balls.
Despite his efforts, Bangladesh faced difficulties, with their skipper Shakib Al Hasan not contributing significantly with the bat and only taking two wickets while bowling.
Ultimately, Bangladesh managed to reach a total of 164 runs in 42.4 overs. Matheesha Pathirana and Mahesh Theekshana were the key bowlers for Sri Lanka, taking four and two wickets respectively.
Sri Lanka Batting
During Sri Lanka’s chase in the second innings, they faced a challenging situation, losing three wickets in the powerplay.
However, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka formed a crucial partnership that guided Sri Lanka towards victory.
Samarawickrama scored 54 runs from 77 balls, while Asalanka contributed 62 runs from 92 balls.
Their partnership allowed Sri Lanka to secure the win, and as a result, Sri Lanka took the top position in Group B of the tournament.
Bangladesh’s bowling
Bangladesh’s bowling efforts were led by Shakib Al Hasan, who took two wickets, and supported by Shoriful Islam, Mehdi Hasan, and Taskin Ahmed, who each took one wicket.
