Asia Cup 2023: Nepal’s 17-man selection for this year’s Asia Cup, which will be hosted in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, was led by young all-rounder Rohit Paudel.
Paudel won the ACC Premier Cup earlier this year, helping Nepal qualify for the 2023 Asia Cup, and the 20-year-old has been entrusted with the burden of leading the country on the big stage once more.
Nepal will compete in the Asia Cup against Pakistan and India, with Paudel’s squad seeded in Group A opposite two of cricket’s powerhouses.
Nepal will begin the tournament against Pakistan in Multan on August 30, followed by a match against India in Kandy on September 4. The top two teams from each group participating in the event will advance to the Super 4 stage of the competition.
While Nepal did not qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup this year, Pakistan and India will use the Asia Cup as a beneficial warm-up tournament before the 50-over showcase later this year.
After missing out on playing in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe in June, the inclusion of uncapped spinner Mausam Dhakal and young batsman Sandeep Jora in Nepal’s squad came as no big surprise.
