Asia Cup 2023: Afghanistan has revealed its 17-player squad for the Asia Cup 2023, set to commence on August 30th. The tournament is scheduled to take place in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
In preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup, Afghanistan has introduced some alterations to their team lineup that had contested against Pakistan in a three-match ODI series that recently concluded.
Regrettably, Azmatullah Omarzai and Wafadar Momand have been left out of the Asia Cup selection due to various reasons. Omarzai suffered a side strain during the series against Pakistan, rendering him unavailable for the upcoming tournament.
Conversely, a few players are returning to the squad for the Asia Cup. The likes of Karim Janat, Najibullah Zadran, and Sharafuddin Ashraf are making their comebacks to the team. Karim Janat, who had previously participated in only one ODI match back in 2017, is among the returnees.
As Afghanistan gears up for the Asia Cup 2023, fans and cricket enthusiasts will be looking forward to witnessing these changes in the squad and how they perform in the tournament, competing against other prominent teams from the region.
