Asia Cup 2022 is around the corner. The top teams in Asia will be playing in this tournament. We have India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and even Afghanistan in the tournament. Such a multination tournament brings in a lot of excitement. These multinational tournaments like Asia Cup 2022 have new challenges for players as well. Here is a look at what the Indian team can look like. The format will be T20 and it will be great practice before going to T20 World Cup.
Indian Cricket Team (Probable) for Asia Cup 2022:
- KL Rahul
- Rohit Sharma (Captain)
- Rishabh Pant
- Suryakumar Yadav
- Hardik Pandya
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
- Harshal Patel
- Yuzvendra Chahal
- Jasprit Bumrah (Vice Captain)
- Ishan Kishan (Back Up Opener)
- Shreyas Iyer/Deepak Hooda (Back Up Middle-Order)
- Washington Sundar/Ravi Bishnoi (Back Up Spinner)
- Umran Malik/Avesh Khan (Back Up Pacer)
Indian Team Key Players:
The recovery and presence of KL Rahul in the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022 will be key. KL Rahul has not been a part of the Indian T20 Team for a very long time. He needs to get used to and needs to get well-aware of the dressing room environment. There has been negligible series in which KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli three have been a part of the team at the same time. KL has been dealing with a groin injury and if he is fit he needs to play a few games to set his eyes in.
Harshal Patel will be another key player. There has been criticism that Harshal and his slower balls will not be effective on the Australian pitches but Harshal did exceptionally well on the fast pitches of England. If he does very well, the concern for the 3rd fast bowler in the team gets solved.
Washington Sundar can be an asset if the Indian tea, is looking for a backup for Yuzi Chahal. Like Yuzi bowls in the powerplay, Washi does too. Like Yuzi is economical, Washi is too. His numbers off-late have been great. He might not be on the top wicket-takers list but he is very economical.
