Arjun Tendulkar scores a century in his Ranji Trophy debut in a domestic cricket tournament. Arjun Tendulkar, following in the footsteps of his father, Sachin Tendulkar, scored his maiden first-class century and made his first-class debut in the domestic tournament Ranji Trophy on Wednesday, cementing his golden future in the game of cricket.

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar scored his maiden first-class century on his debut for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy against Gujarat in 1988 at the age of 15. Thirty-four years later, history was repeated again by his son, 23-year-old Arjun Tendulkar, whose primary role is that of a fast bowler, scoring 120 off 207 balls on the second day of Goa’s game against Rajasthan at the Goa Cricket Association Academy Ground in Porvorim. By making it, it is now in the headlines.

With the score at 201 for 5 batting at number 7 when the wicket of wicketkeeper-batsman Eknath Kerkar fell on the first day of play, Arjun remained unbeaten on four off 12 balls overnight. On the second day, he shared a 221-run partnership with other night batsman Suyash Prabhudesai, who scored 212 runs from 416 balls – his maiden first-class double century.

By the time stumps were announced, Goa were 493 for 8 in 163.2 overs against a Rajasthan unit that featured the likes of Aniket Chowdhary and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. Arjun Tendulkar had moved from Mumbai to Goa at the start of the season in search of more playing opportunities.

He had played only two T20 matches for Mumbai before playing the innings. Arjun started his stint with Goa in the 2022 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy in spectacular fashion, taking ten wickets in seven matches at an impressive economy rate of 5.69.

He was Goa’s second highest wicket-taker in the tournament behind Lakshya Garg. Arjun also played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy ODIs this season and finished as Goa’s leading wicket-taker, taking seven wickets in eight matches at an average of 32.37 and an economy rate of 4.98
