IPL 2022 Mega Auctions: Aakash Chopra picks 4 Cricketers MI would want to retain in IPL 2022.
IPL 2022 Mega Auctions: The Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra, in his recent video shared on his Youtube Channel, predicted four cricketers defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) would love to retain ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.
Earlier, the BCCI released a new blueprint for the IPL 2022 which stated that the franchises will be given liberty to retain four cricketers before the mega auctions and the rest others will go to the auction table.
The five-time champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) have the best possible collection of players with all the departments balanced.
Aakash Chopra named Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya as his first three choices of retention.
“The Mumbai Indians are the first team that comes to mind. Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya – you will hundred per cent want to retain these three players.”

However, the renowned commentator and cricket analyst stated that neither of the last two named cricketers will be happy with the amount their franchise will pay them for retaining their services for the next couple of years.

“Among these Rohit will be the first retention, but the second and third, will Hardik or Bumrah be happy with just seven crores. That’s a bit of an issue.”
The men in blue and gold have always let their core remain intact in all the seasons. The franchise retained the same trio of Rohit, Bumrah and Pandya in the mega auction 2018.
With these three getting their tickets to play for Mumbai Indians (MI), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahal and Krunal Pandya among others who will head to the auction table in the 2022 Mega auction.
Chopra further picked the Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard as his only overseas retention pick.
“I feel they will retain Pollard at the start. So that will be their four retentions.”
With all the Mumbai Indians (MI) players shining consistently with their performances, the players are unlikely to be happy with the set salary structure which fetches INR 15 Crores (for first choice retention), INR 11 Crores (for second choice retention) and INR 7 Crores (for third choice retention).
