ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Aakash Chopra bets on Suryakumar Yadav’s place in the T20 World Cup 2021

ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Aakash Chopra bets on Suryakumar Yadav’s place in the T20 World Cup 2021.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021: The cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra feels confident enough to place a bet on Suryakumar Yadav as he shows his prime form to encourage the selectors to pick him in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2021.

Yadav, 30-years old, played a dazzling knock under pressure when the Indian top order had a mini-collapse against Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Colombo last night. The cricketer, coming to bat at number 5, scored his maiden ODI half-century and kept the Indian hopes alive until his time at the crease.

Although it was Deepak Chahar who in unison with Bhuvneshwar Kumar helped India stamp the ODI series, Suryakumar Yadav’s 44 balls 53 cannot be neglected.

The former cricketer, Aakash Chopra, who is quite active on social media, stated that Yadav will be there in the Indian outfit for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

“Let me put my neck on the block, I am saying Suryakumar Yadav will be in India’s T20 World Cup team although there will still be debate and competition, but I feel he will pip somebody to the post.”

ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Aakash Chopra bets on Suryakumar Yadav’s place in the T20 World Cup 2021.

Chopra said that the size of squads in the ICC events is generally small, but Surya will make it to the fifteen.

“There is only a 15-member squad in the ICC events but this player will make his place in that fifteen, he has been absolutely sensational.”

It is always said, it is never too late to arrive. Suryakumar Yadav has proved this by performing consistently in a short time.

He made his T20I debut back in the home series against England earlier this year and made his ODI debut in the first ODI on 18th July.

Chopra further indicated certain improvements in Suryakumar’s performances in the last couple of years. He said the cricketer was not able to accelerate the innings once the powerplay ended, however, he looks a completely different cricketer.

“Suryakumar Yadav is a different kind of player. Two years ago, Suryakumar Yadav used to bat up the order and was unable to score runs after the powerplay. But now the game we have seen, he is batting at No.5, he plays as though he is made for that position. The Indian team could need someone at No.5.”

The commentator, who is known for his brilliant wordplay during the Hindi commentary, signed off with a beautiful sentence on Surya’s performance.

He said: “The clouds can cover Surya’s shine for some time but cannot hide it. The Surya eventually shines and this Surya has shone once again, he has smashed a half-century.”
