One of India’s best fast bowlers of all time, Jasprit Bumrah, has been crucial for the Indian side in all three formats in recent times. He played a pivotal role in India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup in the USA and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claiming key wickets in crucial moments and maintaining pressure throughout the series.

Jasprit Bumrah’s impact in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 was monumental, as he emerged as a game-changer for India. Leading the pace attack, Bumrah consistently troubled the Australian batters with his intense spells that ripped apart the Aussie lineup.

Although India lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1, Jasprit Bumrah outshined with his stellar performances and was hence coined the Player of the Series.

Here’s a list of 5 records achieved by Jasprit Bumrah in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy:

1: Most wickets by an Indian bowler in an overseas Test series

The 31-year-old fast bowler showcased brilliance by taking crucial 32 wickets across 9 innings in 5 Test matches in Australia. Jasprit Bumrah outclassed former Indian off-spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, who took 31 wickets against Australia in 1977-78 and is now level with Harbhajan Singh, who had the record of 32 wickets in the BGT earlier in the 2000/01 series.

2: Fastest Indian seamer to 200 Test wickets

Jasprit Bumrah achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the fastest Indian seamer to reach 200 Test wickets, setting a new benchmark for excellence. He surpassed former Indian captain Kapil Dev, who reached the milestone of 200 Test wickets in 50 Test matches.

He completed this milestone during the fourth Test at Melbourne, also known as the Boxing Day Test. Bumrah achieved this exceptional feat in just 44 Test matches.

3: Only bowler with 200 Test wickets and an average of less than 20

The Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah is the only bowler in the history of Test cricket who has taken a minimum of 200 Test wickets with an average of below 20. This exceptional achievement highlights his dominance while maintaining remarkable economy and control. With 205 wickets to his name, he has an average of around 19.40.

Legendary Caribbean fast bowler Malcolm Marshall (20.94), along with teammates Joel Garner (20.97) and Curtly Ambrose (20.97), have been left behind by the legendary Indian speedster.

4: Most wickets for India in SENA Tests

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has a total of 205 Test match wickets in his entire career of 45 Test matches all over the world. Out of these, 153 Test wickets have been taken in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). Next after him on this list is legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who has taken 141 wickets in SENA countries, though it seems tiny in front of Kumble’s mammoth 619 test wickets.

5: Most five-wicket hauls by an Indian in SENA Tests

Ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah leads the chart for most five-wicket hauls by an Indian bowler in SENA countries in the longest format of the game. As of now, the Indian pacer has 9 five-wicket hauls to his name in SENA countries (4 in Australia, 2 in England, and 3 in South Africa).
