ENG vs IND 2021: Team India’s young wicket-keeping batsman Rishabh Pant along with throwdown specialist Dayanand Garani have flagged a red alert for the Indian contingent touring England. Both the aforementioned have tested covid positive and three others are put into isolation after coming in contact with the two infected.
India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun along with wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and backup opener Abhimanyu Easwaran have been sent into mandatory isolation post the reports were revealed.
Team India will now conduct daily testing from now on.
“Pant, who had not stayed in the team hotel during the break period, tested positive on 8th July. He is asymptomatic and currently undergoing self-isolation at the place where he reported positive,” BCCI said in a statement.
The statement further read that the southpaw is doing well and will join the rest of the after two negative reports.
“He is being closely monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and is on his way to recovery. He will be able to join the squad in Durham after returning two negative RT-PCR tests.”
The other three members, Bharat Arun, Wriddhiman Saha and Abhimanyu Easwaran, who are in isolation have returned negative but will remain confined to their rooms for 10 days due to the UK government’s health protocols.
The entire Indian group will arrive in Durham today after completing their 20 days holiday.
Rishabh Pant, Wriddhiman Saha and Abhimanyu Easwaran will miss the first practice match against the combined county 11 on 20th July in Durham.
KL Rahul is likely to keep wickets in the practice match as both the specialist wicketkeepers will be unavailable for the action.
