It is a very saddening end of the season for all the Real Madrid. The reason is the departure of two legends of the club. Marcelo Viera, the Brazilian Maestro is expected to leave as his contract comes to an end this season. The same is the case with Gareth Bale. Both of these players were an integral part of the Real Madrid squad that went on to win 4 UCL titles in 5 years. This shows the kind of dominance that they had while being present on the field. Here is an in-depth look at the same:

Marcelo Viera Set to Leave Real Madrid to Play for Fluminense:

The legendary full-back, Marcelo Viera, the man with the golden touch, is set to leave the Los Blancos at the end of this season. Marcelo joined the Real Madrid squad back in 2007 from his home team Fluminense. After joining in the 2007 summer window, Marcelo has featured in 575 recorded games for the Men in White. Santiago Bernabeu will forever be grateful for the presence of this legend on the field. There is a certain chance of a contract extension with Real Madrid but in that case, the extension will be for a year.

In the 14-15 years that Marcelo played for Madrid, he went on to win 4 Champions League Titles, 6 La Ligas, 2 Copa del Reys, 3 UEFA Super Cups, and 4 Club World Cups. This makes Marcelo one of the most decorated players in the history of the game. He will always be remembered for covering maximum ground across the pitch and running across the entire flank. He had one of the softest touches and his ball control was elite.

Gareth Bale Set to Leave Real to Play in the Premier League:

Gareth Bale, one of the top wingers to be ever associated with Real Madrid is also set to move away. His contract also ends this season. His agent Jonathan Barnett confirms that Gareth has a few offers from England. The Premier League is high pace football and that is what Gareth exactly loves to do. He has previously had two stints with the Hotspurs in England.

One can never forget how Gareth in the El Classico of 2010 made Marc Bartra look helpless and beat him with sheer pace. Gareth’s performance in the 2018 UCL final against Liverpool is one for the ages. The players’ dream of scoring a bicycle kick goal and Gareth scored one in the UCL final!
