IPL 2024 Stats | IPL 2024 Most Runs, Most Wickets, Most Sixes: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 Qualifier by 8 wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After winning the match, Kolkata Knight Riders are now moved to the IPL 2024 Final which will be played on May 26 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It was a one-sided match for the table-topper Kolkata Knight Riders who dominated Sunrisers Hyderabad since the start of the match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who have played exceptional cricket throughout the final failed to replicate the same performance in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Both the batting and bowling of SRH in this match were very poor and it might be their worst performance of this season.
However, despite losing the game against KKR, SRH still have one chance to get a ticket for the IPL 2024 Final. Now, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play the IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 against the winning team for Eliminator which is scheduled to be played on May 24 in Chennai.
KKKR Defeated SRH by 8 Wickets with a Dominating Performance:
After winning the crucial toss in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first but this decision didn’t go in their favour as they lost four wickets in the powerplay itself. Kolkata Knight Riders Pacers came up with an excellent plan and they executed them effectively against SRH. However, Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen made a small partnership of 62 runs for the fifth wicket and they almost led SRH back into the game but at the same time, they got out.
Rahul Tripathi played a responsible inning of 55 runs in 35 balls including 7 fours and 1 six whereas Heinrich Klaasen scored 31 runs in 21 balls. After they got out, SRH lost back-to-back wickets and in the end, Skipper Pat Cummins played an impactful inning of 30 runs and SRH got all out in 19.3 overs therefore they made a decent total of 159 runs on the scoreboard. From the KKR bowling unit, Mitchell Starc took three wickets whereas Varun Chakravarty got two wickets in this match and other bowlers got one wicket each.
In the second inning, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batters started an aggressive start against Sunrisers Hyderabad as KKR made 63 runs in the first six overs with the loss of only one wicket. Both the openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 23(14) whereas Sunil Narine scored 21(16), they got out quite early but gave a good start to the team which put pressure on Sunrisers Hyderabad as the Target was very low.
Later on, Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer made a match-winning partnership of 97 runs for the third wicket and led their team to a crucial victory against SRH in the IPL 2024 Qualifier 1. Shreyas Iyer played an excellent innings of 58 runs in just 24 runs whereas Venkatesh Iyer made 51 runs in 28 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. It was a dominating performance from Kolkata Knight Riders and now, they are into the IPL 2024 Final which will be played on May 26.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers gave a poor performance in the crucial match as they failed to get the wicket of Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer who haven’t performed well in This season so far. Pat Cummins and T. Natarajan took one wicket each whereas other bowlers leaked lots of runs.
