SLvsIND: The Sri Lankan Cricket board, days ahead of India vs Sri Lanka limited-overs series start, has been pushed into a sea of trouble as two support staff members have tested covid positive.
Data Analyst of Sri Lanka men’s cricket team GT Niroshan has contracted the virus and is tested covid positive, a day after batting coach Grant Flower was revealed positive for the same dreaded virus.
Both the members are undergoing treatment and have been put under the eyes of the medical team with complete protocols.
“The Data Analyst of the Sri Lanka National Team, G. T. Niroshan, has tested positive for Covid 19,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.
“He was found to be positive, following a PCR Test carried out among the National Players, Coaches, and Support Staff yesterday, following the identification of Grant Flower as Covid Positive. Niroshan is now undergoing due medical protocols,” it added.

Niroshan and Flower were tested positive under 48 hours of departure from England.
It is noteworthy that the India-Sri Lanka limited-overs series will get underway in less than a week’s time.
Both the teams are scheduled to play three One Day International matches along with three T20Is in the tour which starts on July 13.
All the Sri Lankan cricketers who have arrived from England are being tested regularly for covid.
To add more woes, three of Sri Lanka’s senior cricketers are facing serious charges after breaching the bubble in England.
As per the reports, Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella spotted outside the bubble and have been suspended.
