NZ vs PAK 2024: Kane Williamson Retires-Hurt After Having Tight Hamstring in the 2nd T20I against Pakistan: New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson suffered a tightness in his right hamstring while taking a single in the 10th over of the first inning in the 2nd T20I match against Pakistan at Seddon Park Cricket Stadium in Hamilton. Currently, New Zealand is leading the five-match T20I series by 2-0.
After getting retired hurt, Kane Williamson didn’t come to play in the second inning. He has scored 26 runs in 15 balls with three fours and one six at a strike rate of 173.33. The Star Bowler, Tim Southee has led the New Zealand Team for the remaining part of the 2nd T20I game as team management took a precautionary measure to avoid risk for the upcoming series and tournament.
Kane Williamson has suffered multiple injuries in the past one year as during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, he got injured while fielding in the opening match. After this injury, he didn’t play a single game till the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 but later in the tournament, his thumb got broken in the match against Bangladesh, which led him to take a rest for the upcoming games.
After the ODI World Cup 2023, Kane Williamson was added in the T20I series against Bangladesh in December 2023 but due to medical reasons, his name was withdrawn from the squad. The Three-match T20I series between New Zealand and Bangladesh was drawn (1-1).
Currently, New Zealand is playing the T20I series against Pakistan and Kane Williamson is set to miss the third T20I game, which will be played in Dunedin on January 17, 2024, as he will review his knee injury.

New Zealand defeated Pakistan in the 2nd T20I match in Hamilton by 21 runs and now, they are leading the five-match T20I series by 2-0. The Player of the Match was Finn Allen, who played a fantastic inning of 74 runs in 41 balls and helped his team to have good runs on the scoreboard.
While batting first, New Zealand scored 194 runs with the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Finn Allen was the highest run-scorer in this match as he scored 74 runs in 41 balls and Kane Williamson scored 26 runs in 15 balls. From the Pakistan side, Haris Rauf took three wickets and Abbas Afridi took two wickets in this T20I match.
Pakistan failed to chase the target of 195 runs as they got all out by scoring just 173 runs in 19.3 overs. Babar Azam scored 66 runs in 43 balls and Fakhar Zaman scored 50 runs in 25 balls. From the New Zealand side, Adam Milne took four wickets whereas Ben Sears and Tim Southee took two wickets in this match and led their team to victory.
