Aman Sherawat has created history as he has bagged the sixth medal for India at the Paris Olympics 2024. India have bagged their sixth medal at the mega event as the 21-year-old has broken the jinx in the wrestling and has managed to win the bronze medal for the country.
With this medal, Aman Sherawat has helped India to maintain their winning streak in wrestling since the 2008 Olympics. The 21-year-old has become a household name now and wrote his name among one of the greatest athletes for India. He was unfortunate to lose the semi-final match against Japan’s Rei Higuchi but backed it up with a bronze medal win.

He faced Puerto Rico’s wrestler Darian Toi Cruz for the bronze medal match and registered a dominating win by a 13-5 margin. This is now the fifth bronze medal for India, with one silver, at the ongoing event. Amaz Sherawat has now become the 8th Indian wrestler to win an Olympic medal.
Before him, KD Jadhav in 1952 (bronze), Sushil Kumar in 2008 (bronze) and in 2012 (silver), Yogeshwar Dutt in 2012 (bronze), Sakshi Malik in 2016 (bronze), Bajrang Punia in 2020 (bronze), and Ravi Dahiya in 2020 (silver) have won Olympic medals for India in this sport.
The 21-year-old who lost his parents at the age of 11 due to an accident was raised by his grandparents. His victory has come with big happiness for the whole country after the controversial and unfortunate disqualification of Vinesh Phogat a couple of days ago.
After his win, the whole nation congratulated him, and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Aman Sherawat for making India proud at the biggest stage. His success has made sure that India aren’t going empty handed in this sport, in which they are pretty good.
