KIUG 2024: Khelo India University Games 2024 Schedule | Venue | Sports List | Live Streaming: The Khelo India University Games 2024 officially began on Monday with seven northeastern Indian states – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland and Tripura—hosting the multi-sport event for the first time.
KIUG 2024 will be the fourth edition of the Khelo India University Games, which is part of the Khelo India initiative of the Government of India.
The multisport competition is organized as a team championship, with the medals won by individual competitors or teams going towards the total number of medals won by their respective universities. The university with the most gold medals at the end of the competition is crowned the champion.
The opening ceremony of the Khelo India University Games 2024 will be held on Monday at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati, while the closing ceremony will be held on February 29.
The 2020 Odisha edition’s first KIUG winner was Punjab University of Chandigarh. They won it in Uttar Pradesh the previous year, therefore they are also the reigning winners. Bengaluru’s Jain University of Karnataka was victorious in the 2021 edition.

KIUG 2024 Game Venue and Participant details
At KIUG 2024, medals will be offered in 20 sports, with around 4,500 athletes from over 200 Indian universities competing for medals. Various venues across Assam will host most of the events.
Meanwhile, weightlifting will be held in Arunachal Pradesh, archery in Tripura, men’s football in Mizoram, men’s boxing in Sikkim, wrestling in Nagaland and yoga asana competitions in Tripura.
